A large number of organizations in different countries work on the right to housing.  Many fewer monitor and analyze the government's budget to assess the extent to which it advances people's enjoyment of the right to housing.  Two organizations that do are:

• Idasa (South Africa), which has in recent years looked at housing issues as part of its analysis of the national budget. It has also looked at housing budgets at the provincial level. In its analysis it uses human rights standards in the South African Constitution, which mirror quite closely those in international human rights treaties.

• The Human Rights Centre at Queens University Belfast, which is working on a project entitled "Budget Analysis and the Advancement of Economic and Social Rights in Northern Ireland," which focuses on the reduction of funding for construction of social housing and the decline in social housing stock despite strong demand.
